The Prince William Earthshot Prize Winners Return to Singapore

In the world of golf, few names stand out more than Brooks Koepka, who won the 2025 LIV Golf Singapore prize by a considerable margin. Now, as he returns to the course this month to defend his title, a lot is on the line for him and the other players. So, who will take home the top prize of USD 4 million? And can anyone stop Koepka on his way to another win at the tough stretch of holes three to seven known as the Dragon’s Tail at Sentosa?

The third annual awards ceremony for Prince William’s Earthshot Prize, a global initiative to shore up innovative solutions to the planet’s most pressing environmental perils, will travel to Singapore this November. Kensington Palace said the award winners and finalists who were feted at the first two awards ceremonies in London and Boston last year ‘have already driven incredible impact to protect and restore our planet, with more than 1.5 million people benefiting directly from their solutions.’

This year, the prize is offering more than US$1.2 million in funding to winners in categories including nature protection, clean air, ocean revival, waste elimination and climate change. The winner in each category will receive a minimum of US$300,000 in grant funding, with the finalist receiving up to $200,000 in grant funding. In addition to the fund, winners will also gain access to experts and mentors to help them take their work to scale.

Other winners include Straits Times journalist Akshita Nanda’s debut novel Nimita’s Place about two women navigating society’s expectations in India and Singapore, which won the English fiction prize; and Epigram Books writer Ng Yi-Sheng’s speculative short story collection Lion City that won the Chinese fiction prize. Poetry winner Gaze Back is a “clarion call for gender and linguistic reclamation,” the judges said.

During his visit, Prince William will also try his hand at dragon boating — a popular sport in Singapore and many parts of the world. He will also meet with Singaporeans to see how local organizations are working to protect and restore the planet. He will also attend the United for Wildlife summit, featuring representatives of law enforcement agencies, conservation groups and corporations fighting to combat the illegal trade in wildlife products that is estimated to be worth $20 billion annually. He will also pay a visit to the Istana palace, one of Singapore’s oldest heritage sites. His trip will conclude with the awards ceremony, to be hosted at The Fullerton Hotel in downtown Singapore. The event will be streamed online. The full list of winning books is available here. 224 entries were received, 30 per cent more than the previous year, with four titles winning Readers’ Favourite. This year, the public was given the opportunity to vote for their favourite, with the top three getting a cash prize of $1,000, a trophy and a 12-month Storytel audiobook gift subscription. All other winners are slated to receive a cash prize of $500 and a trophy.
